about

In these uncertain times, music has become more important than ever to keep us connected and moving. Dance is a potent antidote to fear so we are plowing ahead in our mission to continue presenting fresh artists and sounds.

Our latest release comes comes from Kloves, a prolific Canadian artist who has maintained a busy release schedule since 2016. They have delivered us a 4 track EP full of unmistakeable Jack Dept. energy. First up is title track That's What They Said, a subdued roller with just the right amount of trance flavor. Late For Home brings a more jacking vibe, with bumping baselines and uneasy, shuddering synth work. Stranger is a stepper anthem that would smash any big room, and Envy brings everything together with an uplifting acid lead that lends us some hope for what lies ahead.

When they are not teaching music production, producing their own tracks and touring, Kloves takes the time to give back to their community by specifically scouting out female-identifying and queer talent to join the roster on their own record label Obskur Music, co-founded with Nomad Black. We applaud their commitment to underground dance culture and we're proud to welcome them to the Jack Dept. family!
